PHOTOS OF THE FRASER

Since time immemorial, the Fraser River basin has shaped the history, environment, industry, and cultures of this region. From the Rocky Mountains to the Salish Sea, the 1,375 km stretch of the Fraser River is home to almost 3 million people, each with their unique views of the river. *Click* Photos of the Fraser aims to bring together a collection of these points of view and invites photographers to submit photographs that capture the life of the river and the basin. This year, the Fraser River Discovery Centre is excited to extend collaboration with the New Westminster Photography Club and invite both its members and the general public to contribute to this year’s exhibit!

This exhibit celebrates the ever-changing beauty of the Fraser River and its watershed through the theme “Four Seasons”. We invite submissions that showcase how the river, its landscapes, and the life it supports, transforms through the seasons. From dramatic seasonal shifts in water, vegetation, and wildlife to subtle changes in colour, texture, and atmosphere, photographers are encouraged to reveal the many ways the river reflects the passing of time. Whether capturing spring freshets, vibrant summer activity, fall colours, or the quiet stillness of winter, this theme highlights the deep connection between the Fraser River and the ecosystems and communities that depend on it. Through these images, we aim to inspire viewers to appreciate the river’s seasonal rhythms and its role in shaping the lives of animals and plants.

Photos are submitted to one of two categories: Nature Through the Seasons and People Through the Seasons. A jury drawn from New Westminster’s cultural sector has selected fifteen photographs to be displayed at the FRDC. These include one winner from each sub‑category, the overall “Best in Show”, and 12 honourable mentions.

We hope you enjoy this year’s edition of  *Click* Photos of the Fraser!
