WINTER DISCOVERY DAYS
This winter, the FRDC is pleased to offer extra programming during winter break with Winter Discovery Days. There’s so much to see and discover, and we hope you’ll join us!
Please note that the Centre is closed on December 25 and January 1.

Winter has arrived at the Fraser River. Celebrate the season at Winter Discovery Days! Things calm down at this time of year but there’s lots going on under the surface! Peek into the hidden happenings of winter where some species slow down… and others are hard at work!

WHAT:
- Dec 20 – Jan 4:
- Drop in for some seasonal facilitated activities and storytime every day between 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm.
- Delve into the winter wonders of life in the cold with self-guided activities throughout the building.
- Dec 20 – Dec 27: Frosty Adventures: Animal Adaptations Uncovered. Get ready to explore the wild side of winter! Discover how animals survive the transition from fall to winter—feathers, fur, and clever tricks included! Take part in the Migration Challenge, answer questions as you move across stepping stones to safety, join storytime and play a board game to learn how salmon adapt to seasons. If you’re feeling adventurous, try to build a cozy den and play a game to test your survival smarts!
- Dec 28 – Jan 4: Snowy Sprouts: Plant Secrets for Seasonal Survival. Explore the amazing ways plants adapt as fall turns into winter! Join a facilitated science experiment to examine frozen plant parts with microscopes, enjoy storytime while learning how plants help restore streams. Try your hand at the Winter Survival Traits Matching Game and dance your way through Just Dance: Plant Edition as you discover how plants prepare for seasonal changes!

- Facilitated activities: 10:00am – 12:00pm
- Storytime: 1:00pm – 3:00pm
WHERE: Fraser River Discovery Centre, 788 Quayside Drive, New Westminster, BC
COST: Includes admission to the Discovery Centre. Specific costs are listed below:
- Family Ticket ($20.00) – for 2 adults and up to 4 children
- Adult Ticket ($8.00) – adult 19 and older
- Senior Ticket ($6.00) – senior 65 and older
- Student Ticket ($6.00) – student ID required
- Child ticket ($5.00) – children aged 3-12
- Children 2 and under register for free
Caretakers are asked to remain with their children for the duration of their visit.
