The Fraser River Discovery Centre is located on the traditional territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. Territory acknowledgement is one small part of Reconciliation. Please take a moment to think of other ways you can participate in Reconciliation with indigenous communities.
Learning Indigenous history, culture, and stories of the Fraser River Basin is essential to creating a more complete understanding of the river and the central role it has played for riverside communities since time immemorial.
To that end, the Fraser River Discovery Centre offers exhibit and educational content created in partnership with Indigenous communities that align with the Centre’s three pillars of sustainability: The Working River (economy), the River Wild (environmental) the River’s People (socio-cultural).
The latest addition to our work in these areas is the announcement with the Musqueam Indian Band (MIB) that we will work to develop the FRDC as a Place of Learning About the Indigenous Heritage and Teachings of the Fraser River. To print a copy of the media release. please click HERE
